UK School Games 2017

At the end of August Anna Doherty and Matthew Corr competed in the UK School Games 2017, held at Loughborough University.

The School Games was held across a total of eleven current and future Olympic and Paralympic sports: Athletics, Cycling, Fencing, Hockey, Judo, Rugby Sevens, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Tennis, with Girls Cricket also participating as a demonstration sport.

The competition re-enforces the experience of Olympic and Paralympic Games complete with an Opening Ceremony and an Athletes Village.
The event seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting that not only provides elite young sports people with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport.

Anna represented Ulster hockey while Matthew represented Northern Ireland in the high Jump. Ulster Girls’ Hockey were bronze medal winners and Matthew was place 5th in the high jump.
