On Saturday 26th January I travelled to Belfast to attend a Cyber Security day run by the Smallpiece Trust.

I arrived at the event at 9:30am eager to get started. After signing in, the other attendees and I heard a very interesting talk about the various roles within Cyber Security. After the talk we split into groups and participated in two activities: code cracking (cryptography) and managing data, where we had to set criteria and sort a large data set to choose our ideal Quidditch team.

After a tasty lunch we attended two more activity sessions: designing a website and data security where we used some ‘hacked’ data and the internet to track down details about an individual.

It was a very informative and enjoyable event, that gave me a greater insight into the vast number of future career opportunities in Cyber Security.
