Memorial Cup Winners
Congratulations to the U13 rugby team who won the Memorial Cup at Methodist College for the first time in the school’s history.
The team beat RBAI 7-0, Coleraine Grammar School 12-0 and Killicomaine Junior High School 12-0 to win their group. In the semi-final, they recovered from conceding an early try to draw 7-7 with Terenure College, Dublin. When extra time could not separate the sides, the Academy won narrowly on penalty kicks. Despite the disadvantage of having played a considerably longer semi-final the boys maintained their impressive teamwork and endeavour in the final beating the hosts, Methody, 7-5. This morning Reece Williamson, the captain of the side presented the cup to the school.
